Thanks Scott, what I need is some way of confirming if the man who is in the 57th Alabama and the man who settled in Texas after the war is the same person. I wish I could find a pension application on him for Texas but I don't. I don't even think his service record would clear this up completely. Without a pension record or Confederate Veterans membership record I may not ever know for certain if they are indeed one and the same man.
