Still looking for info on Border Cavalry Regt, COL James Bourland, commanding. Apparently, was raised in 1864, served in Indian Territory. Did it ever have a numerical designation? (i.e., 99th Tex Cav, etc.?)

My g-grandfather's service record, obtained from Texas State Library ends with last entry in Oct '64 with no further info on operations or discharge/disbandment after end of war.
