Carol, You may already know all this but... Gano states that Camp Garland was one mile from the "S.D. Road" in one of his reports. I have not been able to determine what "S.D." stands for and wonder if it is a typo from the original report. Wild guess is that it should be "S.L." for State Line Road. I beleive the ORs state that it is in the Choctaw Nation which makes sense because Tandy Walker was camped there before being asked to operate outside the Nation.

I'm assuming it is closer to Laynesport (Lanesport) AR than to Tom OK. Of course, they're only about 6 miles apart. The locals in SW AR complained that when Gano camped there he took all their livestock.

If you've got more information I'd sure like to know. I'd also be interested in the letters you have especially regarding Indian Territory.
