Several years ago, I wrote a history of the 28th Texas Cavalry. The book was published by the University of Arkansas Press with the title of PECULIAR HONOR: A HISTORY OF THE 28TH TEXAS CAVALRY, 1862-1865. The regiment served in Walker's Texas Division and campaigned extensively in Arkansas and Louisiana. They fought at the battles of Mansfield (Louisiana), Pleasant Hill (Louisiana), and Jenkins' Ferry (Arkansas).
