We have a copy of George William Tucker's application for a pension - State #31202. He states he was a private in Co. H of the 31st Infantry and in the hospital in Milligan, Texas when the war ended and he was released.

His application witnesses were an R. Pemberton and John W. Davis who both state they served in Co. A of the 31st Infantry. (For some reason the online alpha index mistakenly shows his name as George Washington Tucker.) The reply from Washington D. C. when they attempted to confirm his service states that several G. W. Tucker's served from Texas but they had no records related to any such unit. His pension was granted in spite of that reply.

I am wondering if the 31st was actually the Texas State Troops. From what I have found researching the internet - the correct TST number for Dallas/Kaufman counties where he lived his whole life was the 13th.

I did find a list online of Texas State Troops info available in the State Library - but his name is not there.

Can anybody help me find any info about these folks or these units?
