Does anyone out there know anything about a Major Richard Austin Howard who apparently served the Confederate Army in the area of Jackson County, Texas? I have the sketch of him from the Handbook of Texas Online which is very good, but would like more detail of his activity of 1864-65 since my great-grandfather apparently served under him about that time.
