Palmetto Ranch Wounded

My gr gr grandfather Jeptha Harr was the farrier for Co. F of the 33rd Cavalry Regiment. Family lore states that he was wounded in the last battle of the war, and died while enroute to his home in Castroville. Supposedly, he was buried somewhere on the King Ranch. My question is: Would his route home have taken him over the King property, lending some credence to this story? Thank you.
