Re: Finding Captain Willke's company

I have been researching a Pvt G(eorg) Pfeiffer who enlisted in the 5th Field Battery in LaGrange on June 19, 1862. The compiled records indicate that this unit, was organized Oct 12, 1861 as heavy artillery and changed to light by SO # 127 Dist of Texas and New Mexico May 2, 1863. The unit was also known at various times as Willke's Batt'n Light Art'y, Creuzbaur's, Welhausen's and Dege's. The compiled records indicate S.O. 290 Headquarters Trans Miss dated Nov 19 1864 designated it as the 5th Field Battery and assigned it to the 7th Battalion. There are scattered documents on the unit for service at Brownsville and Ringold Barracks in 1862/1863. Then there are accounts of being in battle at Calcasieu Pass, La May 6, 1864 with one killed and 6 wounded - that record indicates they were at or went back to Fort Manhasset(Jefferson County), Texas. Would like to learn more about the diary. What period does it cover and just by any chance any mention of George Pfeiffer? By the way I am not related to Hermann Willke (as far as I know) just a coincidence.
