Thanks for the information. I can not tell you how much I appreciate finding more of Likens' men as there are no muster rolls in the Texas & National Archives. S. Meadors of Co. "H" has 2 file cards from The NARA, but now that you've found his grave more research can be done.

Work is still progressing on the History of Likens' 35th Texas Cavalry that I am writing. The book will include a roster of the men discovered to be veterans by various sources.

Texas had two "35th" Cavalry Regiments. One under Ruben Brown and the other under James B. Likens. At one time both were on the Texas Gulf Coast so discovering "which is which" can be a chore, but luckily for historians the two regiments served in other places during the WBTS, away from each other. The work you have done in the cemetery probably reveals the confusion one faces to discover a true unit identity. Again I am very greatful. Are there any plans to mark the grave with a VA marker?
