I was aware of the Fanny Morgan application, but was coming to the conclusion that the "Nichols" mentioned was Ebenezer Nichols of Galveston because he had the local connections and was later commander of the Galveston sub-district. He is also reported to have started a cartridge factory in Galveston. Perhaps they are related.
