I am looking for more information on a John Jones Moore. I know he was from Rusk TX when he joined. What I have so far is from a college paper my Cousin wrote.
John Jones left his home in June of 1862 to enlist in the Confederate Army. He served in the Infantry, Ochiltree Regiment, Maples Company and Youngs Brigade until the spring of 1863. He then contacted measles and was released from the Army at Pine Bluff, AR. He made his way home to Rusk, TX on foot, hiding in the woods for days with fever so high he was delirious and had lost all track of time. He had to swim the Red River and probably several other creeks and streams before he finally arrived in Rusk, TX. He remained in Rusk until the autumn of 1863 at which time he joined the Calvary, Company T, Martins Regiment, Gano's Brigade and served till the end of the Civil war, in 1865.
He was honorably discharged at Fort Bend County, Tx at Richmond. During the three years he was in the army he was only slightly wounded, in the right arm, while fighting fighting in the Battle of Pea Ridge, AR.
any help would be appreciated so much.
