There is a "J.J. Moore" listed as a private in Company K of the 18th Texas Infantry (Ochiltree's). I cannot find a record of him, though this would not be unusual, in the 5th Texas Partisan Rangers (Martin's). Martin's Regiments was a mounted unit that spent most of its time in the Indian Territory.

The story of his wounding at Pea Ridge is not likely, as this battle was fought Mar. 7-8, 1862 and the 18th Texas Infantry did not complete its organization until May 13, 1862. He may well have been wounded, but probably not at Pea Ridge.

You might want to see if John Jones Moore applied for a Texas Confederate Pension. If he did, the information contained in his application could solve a lot of this mystery.
