Hi,
I came across an item that I need help identifying. It is an oval plate about 3.25" long with a three dimensional star in the center. It is lead lined on the back. On each end it has a small hole which looks like it might be used for fasteners. On the top front it's inscribed " 1st Texas Cavalry ", on the bottom, " Confederate States of America "
There are no loops or structure on the back. Also, on the back are the letters "CSA" and a date ( hand carved? ) "1862". I don't think this is a belt buckle because of the holes.I have pics. Help! Thanks!!! John
