Good's Tx Bn

Don't know what interest this maybe, but here's a letter within the CSRs of Good's Tx Cav Bn:

From Mj Thomas Langian(?), 4th Dist., Paris, TX to Mj J.H. Earle(?), Chief C.S. & AAG, Northern Sub-district, Bonham, TX dated 17 Aug 64:

I have the honor to request the detail for sixty days of PVT P.C. Askins Co'B' Goods Batt for the purpose of thrashing wheat his services being absolutely necessary.

This man was detailed on 3rd June last for seventy days and on the 3rd last I made an application for renewal but the reply I received has in some manner been mislaid in my office.

I would respectfully state that Askins is running one of the best machines in the country works faitfully and steadily and is doing excellent service. He is now getting into the river farms where there is a large quantity of wheat wholly dependent on him to be thrashed out.

I regret to say that a large amount of wheat in my district is being lost by late rains.
