I don't have any background on him, but he does show as having paid Horace Cone of Houston $225.00 in expenses for travelling from Texas to Richmond and back and returning with $910,000.00 in currency for the Pay and Ordnance Department. This was May 22, 1862, and is reflected in Cone's Consolidated Service Record.

Whether or not this would be germane to your inquirey is that Cone was not then in the militaty. He was a member of the Texas Legislature and the Attorney for the Texas and New Orleans Railroad. The primary purpose of his trip to Richmond was to lobby for a bill to fund the completion of the line between Brashear City and Beaumont.

Not bad when you travel to lobby for a client and get paid by the government for the trip!

I would be interested in learning more about Moise and whether there is any other relationship to Cone.
