Re: Lt-Col Showalter's captains: Wilson and Carpen

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate string to put this on, but upon re-reading the report of Major O.M. Watkins regarding the 1st battle off Sabine Pass in January, 1863, I suddenly realized that Watkins states that "Captain Showalter" was present. I thought it must be a relative, but Watkins specifically states that Showalter had been a politician in California. Must be the same one. So this must be pre formation of the 4th Arizona Cavalry Regiment.
