My gg grandfather James Riley McGee enlisted in Co A 29th Cavalry as a private in Denton County in 1863. According to family history he was captured and held prisoner by the Union army where he ministered to the wounded. His Confederate file in TExas has nothing except his joining card. Is there any way to find out if the he was captured?
