Re: Officers not in line units
In Response To: Officers not in line units ()

The National Archives has two rolls of microfilm on Confederate General and Staff officers Microfilm M331A and 331B There is an index roll M 818. An individuals service record might show him as being detailed to a particular job, but the actual records of his monthly work would have been kept by the establishment to which he was detailed, and a substantial number of those records were lost.

For example the monthly accoung book of the Tyler Ordance Works lists all of the detailed men and what work they were performing. similar records would have been kept at Shreveport and Marshall, but they do not exist.

Have fun looking.
