George,
There are several other groups of microfilms that one can obtain that may have people who one may be looking for. Microcopy 258 reproduces the compiled service records of Confederate soldiers who served in military organizations raised directly of formed by the Confederate Govt. For instance if there were an artillery battalion with members from units of more than one state. Also included are Engineering troops, Sappers and Miners and Signal Corp and Nitre and Mining Bureau people. Someone has already mentioned the Confederate General ,Staff Officer and non Regimental enlisted men. This is microcopy 331. Also one of the most unused is a microcopy 347 which is titled Unfiled Papers and Slips. These are alphbetical guides to information that essentially did not make it into the other records such as the Compiled Muster Rolls. These I have attained several times from our local latter Days Saints Family History Center. I think the fee is like $3.50 for the use of the microfilm for a month. There is another group of microfilms that I cannot recall the title of but they refer to hospital and prison records navy and marine and papers relating to naval and Marine personnel. I don't recall the exact title but the LDS numbers are 0191662 through 0191668.
