Doc,

Go to the National Park Service's Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System at:
www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/battles.htm

You should be able to type in your man's regiment, area of service , his name , state etc and you should be off and running . By the way, the 17th Texas Cav was a tough outfit that got dismounted and consolidated along the way while fighting in virtually all of the major engagements in the "west" ( Miss., Tenn, GA, Carolinas , etc. ) . At the tragic slaughter at Franklin, TN , they fought bravely with Granbury's Brigade in Patrick Cleburn's Division.
If you can't get "hooked into" the NPS system , holler and I'll look it up for you.
Best Regards, CAM
