The 6th TX Cav sent Major White out on scoutings a dirty tricks missions. From Apr 62 on Cpt Henry W. Bridges, Company I, 6th TX was an ad hoc Bn Cmdr of two companies plus of sharpshooters. These companies stayed with Phifer's Brigade for most of this time. This lasted well into 63 when Maj White was killed on a raid. My GGF is listed on detail with Maj White on two occasions. The Tx Companies had back their horses by Jan 1863 as my GGF had his horse shod.
Were they sharpshooters on horse back. Both of my kin had a couple of months training as TST Rangers in 61. Made good cavalry.
