John Burden, pvt., Co. A and Co. E, Col. Nathanial Macon Burford's 19th Texas Cavalry.

Col. Burford raised the 19th Texas Cavalry in Dallas with recruits from Dallas, Kaufman, Ellis, Hill, Navarro, McLennan and Parker County. The 19th Texas Cavalry was placed in a brigade being formed by Col. William H. Parsons, and saw action with Parson's Brigade in the Red River Campaign.

Col. Nathaniel Burford's parents were John and Nancy (McAllister) Burford. Nancy McAllister was born in Bedford County Virginia and moved to Smith county Tennessee with her family where she married John Burford. My g.g.g.g grandparents were William and Mary (McAllister) Coffee. Mary McAllister married William Coffee in Bedford County Virginia in 1768. Mary (McAllister) Burford was my g.g.g.g.grandmother Nancy (McAllister) Coffee's niece. William and Mary Coffee's son, my g,g,g grandfather David Coffee, was born in Bedford County Virginia and after marrying Sytha (Meadows), they moved to Smith County Tennessee.
