Re: Halderman's battery
In Response To: Re: looking for William Reed ()

I am trying to find out about my great great great great grandfather's military service and where he might have died. The only information that I have is that he (James Jefferson Taylor) was from Hunt County. He was a private under Capt. C.G. Titsworth Co. for Beat No. 1 Hunt County 14th Brigade, Texas State troops. He enlisted July 6, 1861. Then it goes on to say that he was wounded serving in Halderman's Battery in the Confederate Army and died in a hospital on January 9, 1864. I have been told that he would have died in a hospital somewhere around the Texas Louisiana border. Can anyone help me fill in some blanks. Which battle, what hospital or any other information? I can not find anything on Halderman's battery. I can find McCulloch and Edgar's with only a mention on Halderman but no info. I have never done any research like this so I really don't know where to begin.
