Ed,

A paperback book entitled " Rebels on the Rio Grande" , edited by Don Alberts has quite a few sketches of Texas forts and cities such as Ft.Davis, Ft.Lancaster, Camp Hudson (now gone), El Paso etc. They were hand drawn by the author of the diary , 4th Sgt Alfred Peticolas of the 4th Texas Mounted Vols. ( later known as the 4th Texas Cav.). Peticolas was a darn good sketch artist based on my visits to some of the the sites he drew that I have some knowledge of. His sketch of Ft.Lancaster was "spot on". I've spent a good bit of time in that part of west Texas and he did a very nice job of capturing the scene. He did not sketch any battle scenes that I know of, but check out the book. Hope this helps. Good hunting . CAM
