13th Texas Volunteers, Co. D

My great great grandfather was a private in Co. D of the 13th Texas Volunteers. His name was Hamilton Wiley Blackwell from Rusk County. He died while in service in Desoto Parish, Louisiana. I do not know if he died of wounds or from illness. I have been told this occurred in 1863, but from what I have been seeing this date seems unlikely. I also have not been able to locate his grave although, I seem to remember when I was very young that some of my family took a trip to Louisiana to visit his grave. Are there any company records that have survived that might reveal a better date, cause and location of his death?

Any help would be appreciated.
