Outstanding stories Jerry.... Henry Boren is an enigma. He started out in JK Bumpass's Farmersville Company,Martins's 5th Texas Partisan Rangers and deserted in March of 63. I had an uncle and a load of cousins in that company. And Henry's nephews Washington and Harrison rode with my gf Joe Thompson in Alf Johnson's Texas Spy Company. For some reason Henry turned against his neighbors and a large part of his southern family. Gladys Ray even writes he came to Texas in the same immigrant train with Bob Lee's family back in the 1830s and that the families had been friendly.Henry Boren certainly became infamous in those parts when he ambushed Bob Lee.

From 1850 on,my family was at Snow Hill, a few miles north of Oxford Lake and south of Blue Ridge. Can you imagine the consternation in the area when that crew rendezvuosed at the Lake? I also had a cousin Hugh Woody with the Brush Battalion at Oxford Lake. Rochettes Roll has him listed as a militiaman. It just kills me I did not get any of my family stories handed down.

I agree,we must thank Rochette for publishing the fascinating information and getting it all in one place.
