Lucretia,

I'll give you what I found in a pretty quick look this morning.
Texas Daly's - Ragsdale's Cavalry Battalion

Organized with five companies around Jan. 1864.Dismounted in Feb 1865. Fought at Battle of Calasieu Pass, LA May 6,1864. Surrendered May 26, 1865.

Texas Moseley's Artillery Battery

Organized by the conversion of Co.D , 13th Infantry Regiment to artillery service on October 19, 1861 . They were then designated as Texas 7th Artillery Battalion , Co.B. Moseley's Battery fought at Battle of Galveston on January 1, 1863.

Texas 7th Artillery Battalion , Co. B

Organized by the assignment of Moseley's Artillery Battery in June 1863. Commanding Officer, Capt. William G. Moseley. Fought at Battles of Mansfield and Pleasant Hill. Participated in the Red River Campaign.

Texas 7th Field Artillery Battery ( Capt. W.G. Moseley)

Organized by change of designation of Co. B,7th Artillery Battalion on November 19,1864. Surrendered on May 26, 1865 in Trans Mississippi theater.

The Jones you speak of is , I believe , Capt. O.G. Jones who was an officer in the Texas 1st Heavy Artillery Regiment , 1st Company A. ( also known as the Dixie Grays). Trying to keep all these command reorganizations straight is more difficult than trying to figure out how Enron kept its books !!.

Stick with me on this !!

The Texas 3rd Artillery Battalion, Co. A was formed in Fayette County , Texas in June of 1861. It became Co.A , 1st Heavy Artillery Regiment on April 28, 1862 ( Jones was a Capt. in this unit) . The unit continued to also be known as the "Dixie Grays" . This unit then became Co. A, 7th Texas Artillery Battalion . Capt. O.G. Jones was the Commanding Officer of this unit.
Christmas' Artillery Battery was merged into this unit in November 1864 and the new unit became the Texas 3rd Field Artillery Battery , commanded by Capt. O.G. Jones. This group was surrendered in the Trans Mississippi theater on May 26, 1865.
Along the way, it looks like the Dixie Grays participated in the battles of Galveston ( October 5, 1862 & January 1, 1863) , Brashear City on June 23, 1863 and Palmetto Ranch May of 1865.
Hope this helps !!
Regards, Craig
