10th Texas Infantry-Grandbury

Looking for additional information on, "10th Texas Infantry", "Grandbury's Brigade UCV". "James Monroe Hill" He fought many battles with them and was under Johnston and Hood. Fought with Hardee's troops when he looking for his command, Cleburne was named once or twice. He was reported killed during the battle of Atlanta July 22, 1864 after they charged federals and over ran heavy canon fire which took a lot of their men. This was partly due to Gen. Walker being killed on the right and his men stopping.
The smoke was still so thick that he thought him and one other man were the only ones alive. James Monroe Hill was not killed but walked into a bunch of Union and Confederates bunched up behind the union lines after the charge. He was sure the Confederates had taken the Yanks prisoner. He was wrong and when they ordered him to halt he didn't because he had already been a prisoner after the fall of Arkansas Post and he told God that he would never be taken again.. They fired at him and he dropped down, his friend was running the other way and saw him fall after the shots were fired. This man reported him killed after finding the Confeserate lines again. Hill was taken prisoner and transported by train North (in boxcars)Crossing Chatahoocha River, to Chatanooga TN, then to Nashville TN and later to Louisville Kentucky, He jumped the train and got away before crossing the Ohio River. He then traveled back toward the Confedrate lines for almost a month. Avoiding Union scouts (that were shooting or hanging)every Reb they could find. He found help and food from several people along the way home. Witnessed some 8th Texas Ranger being chased by Scouts, learned of several being shot and killed by scouts near where he was. Later an Union Army Captain Blackburn almost got him as he hid in an attic looking down at the family being questioned about their Reb son who might be in the area. (he was) 3 other somes had been killed. He got back to Confederate lines after crossing the Tennessee River (1 mile wide there)close to Mussle Shoals. 8th Texas Rangers were guarding the other side, but rode off to fight the Federals up the road. When he found them later they threatened to shoot him as a spy. Later he found men he knew and they confirmed he was a southern man. He then traveled by M & O Railroad to Meridian Mississippi, Montogomery Alabama then to Atlanta Georga (where he had been taken prisoner) they were destroying the railroad at Dalton, GA.
He then rejoined what was left of the command, went on Gen Hood's raid in Tennessee. Got routed in Nashville went back to Mississippi to reorganize what was left of the command. "General Joe Johnston took command of us again"
Went to North Carolina, below Raleigh or near Bentonville and fought one of the last general battle of the war.
After joining in Texas never got back home until after the war.
** Anything that sounds like some simular information or additional stuff, I would love to get it. I am trying to get information together or about any of this and his trip home.
