I am on a committee of the Balch Springs Chamber of Commerce working on a special project depicting the history of Balch Springs. Historical information from 1845 forward is needed. I especially would like info on the men who served in the CSA and stories of the families who waited for their return. During the civil war years, the name Balch Springs did not exist. The area where the town is now was all unincorporated land in southeast Dallas County. The 1860 census refers to the locality as "Scyene P.O." and included a larger area than I am interested in.
