Re: McCord`s Frontier Regimet aka 46th TX Cavalry

I think one major problem I am having is that I don't have a regiment # to work from! What I gather is that within the regiments (that had a number) there would be companies assigned letters (A, B, C, etc) Since all I have is Company H
(then later Company K- which I cannot find at all!) of the Frontier Regiment of the Texas State Troops.. I don't know if requesting information from the State Archives or the NARA would get me anything.
The one thing that puzzles me is that my great grandfather did not join the Caldwell County Texas group. Unless there was another not usually listed on line. Caldwell County is just south of Austin, Travis Co., Texas. So, he would have been with a central Texas group.
I know that Camp Mabry in Austin has a museum. Do you know much about that, and how much they would be able to help solve this mystery?
Thanks
