Duggins, George G.: Born 7 Dec 40 near Arrow Rock, Saline Co., MO. His father a merchant
near Cambridge. 1850 census in Saline Co, MO(9/MO) living with Thomas C. and Elizabeth
W. Duggins. At age 16 entered office of Dr. Alexander and began studying medicine. 1860
census in Saline Co, MO(18/MO) living w/ Lewis H. Duggins. In 1861 joined Missouri State
Guard, supposedly in BG M.M. Parson’s 6th Division. A POW in 1861 & exchanged in 1862
when entered P.A.C.S. service. On duty at Ft Smith, AR, hospital. In 1863 examined and
appointed surgeon of Scanland’s Tx Cav Sqd. Surgeon of Wells’ Rgt. Appt. by Gen. Smith
29 Dec 64 (in the remarks of a card dated Ft Towson 6 Mar 65 says has an appt. from President
as asst. surg.). Present at Apr 65 muster. After war attended St. Louis Medical College, grad.
In spring of 1866. First worked at Ft. Leavenworth, then returned to Saline Co, Mo, to practice.
1870 Census in Miami TWP, Saline Co., MO(30/MO) in household of S.H. Duggins(50/VA).
In Dec 71 married Dora Kirby of Carrollton, MO, and they had 3 children: Daisy, George and Theodosia. 1880 Census in Salt Pond TWP, Saline Co (39/MO) w/ wife Dora (31/MO) and children: Daisy(7/MO), George(4/MO) & Mary(2/MO). Was a Master Mason. Died 17 May 1907 in CO. Buried in Mountain View Cemetery, Pueblo Co, CO.
