In Response To: 17th Texas Cavalry ()

What a job that must have been! One of my great uncles, Francis A. Boring, was captured in Roswell, Georgia in July, 1864, and was kept at Camp Douglas until June of 1865. He was lucky enough to survive, and was released in June, 1865, and walked home. He was in the 18th Ga., Co. A, in Longstreet's Corps, so I have no idea why he was not in Virginia that July. My other great uncle, Alexander, was captured at Cedar Creek, October 19, 1864. He was sent to Camp Lookout, and also survived. If any of the deaths on your list were in the 18th Ga. it would be nice to know. I just learned recently, that my great grand father, Lemuel, who died near Seven Pines, is butied in Oak Wood Cemetery in Richmond. AS you know, the 18th Ga. was in the Texas Brigade until after Antietam. They were in the cornfiled with the Texas Regiments.
