Killingsworth, Thomas: A PVT in Co’A’/Good’s Bn. May 64 return states furloughed to harvest by order of BG McCulloch from 28 May-25 Jun 64. Jul 64 return lists him as absent sick. A 9 Aug 64 affidavit from his mother Elizabeth in Lamar Co., TX: “I Elizabeth Killingsworth solemnly swear that I am the mother of Thomas Killingsworth a private in Captain Williams now Capt Daniels company Col Goods Battalion that he joined the army against my will and without my consent that he was born on the 26th day of February 1848 day and date on hand in my family Bible Elizabeth Killingsworth”. Soldier’s name also appears as Killingsmith.

[Note: there are 2 abstract cards for the May 64 return saying the same thing, except to the right of the name is a ‘1’ and on the second card a ‘2’. Unsure if there might be two soldiers with this surname.]

King, Latham: Enlisted 1 Jul 62 in IT by L.E. Gillett for 2 yrs. A PVT in Gillette’s Co, Indpt. Tx Rangers. Died 21 Dec 62 at Scullyville, Choctaw Nation of Typhoid Fever. There is due him pay for 6 mos. And 21 days, plus clothing money. Age 23, black eyes, black hair, dark complexion, 5’9” tall, a farmer from TX.
