Collin McKinney (1766-1861) Collin County and McKinney Texas was named in his honor. He was the father of Collin Joseph McKinney. In July 1861, Collin J. McKinney enlisted in Capt. Thomas H. Bowens's Mantua Milita Company, Collin County, Texas State Troops.

On September 10, 1861, Capt. Bowen's Company (Co. D) was placed in Col. B. Warren Stone's 6th Mounted Regiment, T.S.T. from Collin County Texas.

Col. B. Warren Stone's regiment was mustered into Confederate service on December 10, 1861 at Dallas, Texas

Collin Joseph McKinney was the grandfather of Mrs. Betty Blanton Crabtree of Granbury, Texas. Mrs. Crabtree is also the grandaughter of Thomas Jefferson Blanton, who was the brother of my great grandmother, Mary Louisa Blanton Coffee.

"Tom" Blanton served in the 5th Texas Cavalry.
