Actually Jerry,my Joseph F Thompson, from Snow Hill, was 30 when he enlisted in Throckmorton's Texas Company in early May of 61.Served three months and then enlisted in Captain Alf Johnson's Independent Texas Spy Company,March 17,1862.Was captured at Arkansas Post Jan.63,exchanged at Richmond in May still sick from that federal Rat Hole at Camp Douglas.Stayed three months in the North Carolina hospital in Richmond, then came home to Snow Hill where he died on Oct 1.His wife died on Oct 7.Apparently he brought home whatever disease he had and fortunately for me,his son didnt catch it.
To my knowledge,I am not related to either the Major Thompson with Stand Watie or Judge James G.Thompson.I've checked them both out.Although,Judge Thompson's second wife is a 1st.cousin.She was the Gresham.
I was posting last night about the time the tornado was reported up near the Four Corners and got off to watch the coverage. That thing was pretty destructive.Lets all pray for the disceased today.
