Quite often in the cases though those men who were left behind as you ancestor was, the details of their death were never forwarded to their company 1st Sargeant who kept the muster roll records. Usually the 1st Sargeant only recieved the news the the soldier had died and that was it.

So don't be disappointed. Their records keeping wasn't the best it the world. And the records prior to Arkansas Post were captured and possible lost or destroyed because of their capture in January 1863.
