I am trying to gather some information on the Ninth Texas Calvary. My great grandfather Jesse J. Hale was a Private in Company C. I have a copy of his military records and his pension application. Both state that he was taken prisoner at Iuka on September 19, 1862. Several websites indicate that the Ninth was in Iuka. Most of the written things I have seen on the Battle of Iuka make no mention of the Ninth even being there. Why is this?
