Best is a series of books --- called " MEMORIAL and BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY of ________ COUNRY, TEXAS - 1892"

These were huge books, called 'mug books". Sometimes called the county " EGO BOOK". Most larger cities/counties had them published in the late 1890's.
It was in an " uncritical flowery prose "--- However had facts maybe available in no other form. Remember , the book was for each county ONLY. See blank in the title above.

They were normally red or black in color. The men themselfs sent in thier BIO., to be included. Tells the stories of thier family, before coming to texas, thier present family, acreage, dates, etc. Tells everything except their own death of course-- and where they were to be buried. THe bit and bite was (of course) was for the men to buy the book.

Again, most cities have them in their town libries,, I.E. :
WACO, TEMPLE, McKINNEY, DENTON, AUSTIN, MARLIN, BRYAN , WEATHERFORD, ENNIS , TYLER ,DALLAS----- etc.

Now go to your county library and ask to see it. Wear your back brace !
