I am Randy Hill..and I am the one who wrote that tribute to Captain Ike Turner. I was there at his memorial service back in April 1995. I was at his "wake", the parade in his honor, his funeral, and his final rest beside his mother.

I am not ashamed to confess that I got misty eyed over and over again that weekend. And I swore to the memory of my own Confederate ancestors that I would come back home, hit the typewriter, and try and share the memories with the world.

I hope I did that Southern hero justice...
