There is a book that will give you some information about the fighting in the area and with it you may be able to piece together some of the action that took place. I don't know if I am spelling it right but the book is "Tajanos in Blue and Gray" I found it at the King ranch measuem in Kingsville about 3 years ago. It was a new release at the time. There is a great deal of info about the fighting that took place on the Rio Grande and Gulf coast. There is some reference to the U.S. 3rd Texas Cavalry they were Mexican Nationals.
