Hello All! Been a long time, but received an unexpected windfall a week or so ago in the form of a photo of Great Grandfather William Henry Flemming you have all tried so much to help me with. I had given up on him, but stumbled across a photo of his unit that had recently been put on one of the major sites. Don't have the info with me, as I'm not at home, but try keying in Photo "Company G, Waller's Battalion, Tom Green Brigade" or similar, and you will find a photo of a group in which he is included with about 8 or 10 others at a 1902 Confederate Reunion in Dallas, Texas, which was in the newspaper. He's third from the left in the back row, but they are all identified underneath the photo, along with a little mascot lady (can't tell if it's a small lady, or a little girl!); anyway, photo is pretty good, and a possibility of someone else's ancestor in there. They spelled his name with the double "m", and crucified the name of the town he was from (Neosho, Missouri)spelled "Neose" or similar. Anyway, no mistaking it is William. If you download the photo, and enlarge it, you will have the same surprise I did - someone has numbered the people in the photo to correspond with the numerical ID's underneath, by hand numbering them in ink on a dark portion of their coats. You can only tell it when it is enlarged, which is nice, because then you can be sure you are correlating the people in the photo with the I.D. numbers below. Really bizarre for me to find this, since I still haven't connected him under Waller's, but did find some stuff in Handbook of Texas Online such as official reports by Tom Green etc. Check it out. Maybe some of you will find a photo of your civil war ancestor! I have to warn you it is a very small group (about a dozen, but maybe you can find more about the same reunion in other sources?), so only a few of you will find someone, but its worth a try.
