People rarely do this, but you really should look for books about other regiments serving in the same brigade. The travels, battles and experiences of these men would have been the same, and you'll learn much about *your* regiment by this means. A well-written book about the brigade will be more useful than a poorly-written book about the specific regiment you have in mind.
