In Response To: 23rd Texas Cavalry ()

Sorry, The National Park Service Soldiers and Sailors System website has recenty underwent "improvements" or is undergoing changes at this time.

After the "improvements" were made to their system, the NPS SSS it is practically worthless to use as a source in order to find any information about anyone.

The "improvements" the the system the federal government has made now requires you to enter the first and last name or initials of the veteran and that information must be exactly as it is listed in the system. Half the time the names and/or the initials f the veteran is misspelled, blank or they are incorrect in the system. You must now also know the exact regiment, state, and type unit the veteran was in wheather it was infantry, cavalry, artillery, etc. just as it is listed in the system. If one item is left blank when you enter search, you will get negative results.

Previously, before the system needed improvement, all you had to do is put the last name and wheather the veteran was union or Confederate, and the state and you would get every veteran that fit in those three catagories Then you could narrow down the search from there.

The information that is now required is what we were trying to find out in the first place!
