Re: 5th Texas Irish?
In Response To: 5th Texas Irish? ()

The 6th Texas Cavalry Rgt had quite a lot of Irish out of Tennessee. They settled in Collin, Dallas, Limestone, Kaufman, mostly north central Texas. My two Nolans were in companies K & I and had their names spelled with every variation of Nolan that came out of Ireland. Thhey were both from Wilson County, TN. I have back tracked my Nolans(Nowlins) to South Carolina in the 1790's. Still trying to prove they are real Irish. Have not had time to research the men of the 3rd, 9th and 27th TX Cavalry Regiments who were all in Ross' Texas Brigade. Do know my Grand mother was from Belfast, so know I am part Irish.
