Granville Jones, Capt. Ed Chambers, Collin County
In Response To: 15th infantry Co. D ()

Anthony,

"Granville A. Jones, b-1822" is listed on vIp195 of my 1,014-page book. ..He was drafted into Captain Edward Chamber's Company "D" Infantry of Collin County, the Fifteenth Battalion of the Fifteenth Militia Brigade, that was transferred to the Confederate Army "on the coast."

.....Editor's note: I have worked for years trying to discern:
..........(1) "where on the coast" they were sent.
..........(2) under whose command. I think that Captains Chamber's, Nichols, and Straughan's infantry companies were sent to
................the coast, because they were not mounted. (I think that Bone's Company was sent to defend the North and West of the
................Frontier because they were mounted.)

Please send vital information on Granville Jones' brother, and on Granville Jones, since both are probably mentioned in my book, which is an ongoing compilation of North Texas history. (i.e., the Name Index in my first edition was 122 pages while my last edition has a 128-page Name Index.)

Vital information about a soldier. ..I strive to get the following data about each soldier for my Name Index:

1) birth year and birth county
2) death year and death county (The cemetery is included if the descendant sends it.)
3) marriage/s, the year/s and county/s where married
4) spouse's full name

Jones. Since studying the Jones families is so difficult, your input is important in expanding North Texas history. ..I must quickly add that three different Jones families of North Texas married into my Bourlands, so I have a structured a Jones outline.
