A Captain Hancock of Company A of either the 6th Texas or 17th Texas led his company to escape from Arkansas Post just before the garrison surrendered to Union forces on Jan. 11, 1863. Can anyone tell me Captain Hancock's first name and confirm which regiment he served with?
