Re: Charles Johnson of Austin
In Response To: Charles Johnson ()

I am a resident of the Deep Eddy area currently working with some other neighbors on applying to the City for an "historical district". I am advocating that this initially be the land comprising Chas. Johnson's original "39 & 3/4 acres" -- today roughly the area between the river and West 7th, and the southbound MoPac frontage road and Hearn Street. As you likely know the two subdivisions in this area - the Chas. Johnson Addition and the Johnson's River Addition -- were created by the Johnson family (in the former case partly by Chas. Johnson himself, it seems), and of course Deep Eddy Pool itself was the site of Johnson's principal quarry.

Have some info you likely have, pretty much all from the public record. Maybe some you don't have. Likely you have info I don't have. Etc.

Would you be interested in helping us put together some background for our application? In particular do you have photos, documents, etc. related to Chas. Johnson and his descendants, or know if same exist anywhere?

Would have called but there are two or three "Troy Johnson"s in the phone book and I am not clear if you actually live in Austin.

Thanks for your time
