That sounds close, but the family is definite on the name--the records of course could be spelled wrong. I have one more question. If he wasn't a regular solider, where do I go to find out info on a volunteer or state militia and so on? I have typed his name into various sites like the Mormon Church's site which is very exyensive. No such name. There is a B.L. Teimann buried in Brenham with a birthdate of 1838 and a death date of 1903, which would fit the Civil War Time period. Anyway, thanks for your help and I think I will just tell the people who called us at our museum that we have hit a brick wall without more info.
