Sparks of Company I, 9th Texas Cavalry. Most of the Texas Brigade was not in the battle at Iuka, but the Brigade that included the 3rd and 1st(27th) (later in Ross' Brigade) was in the thick of the battle. The 6th and 9th were not in the direct battle. This was 19 Sep 62. On the 3-5 Oct 62 The battle of Corinth occurred and all of these units participated. The wounded were left at Iuka and captured and cared for by the Union forces. They were parolled back to their units when they were well enough to walk. On the 5th My GGF was wounded at Hatchie Bridge and was parolled from Iuka.
