More information on the 19th Texas Cavalry.

19th Texas Cavalry Regiment, Nathaniel Macon Burford, Colonel Commanding

The 19th Texas Cavalry was raised in Dallas, Kaufman, Ellis, Hill, Navarro, McLennan and Parker Counties. It was consolidated with Col. William Henry Parson's Brigade in Arkansas and participated in engagements and raids in Missouri and Arkansas and later saw action in the Red River Campaign in Louisiana.

Col. Buford resigned in 1864 after the Red River Campaign because he was unable to lead the regiment. The command was given to Lt.Col. Benjamin W. Watson and Maj. John B. Williams.
